I can but agonize
To suffer hear,
The hue and cry
Of ill-fated fear,
Held to defeat
Alas for naught,
By callous minds
Who would deny,
One having sought
Humane recognition,
In effort to attain
For animate self,
Yet made bear pain
While greed feigns blind,
To disperse its stain
From ill gotten gain,
Issue of man inhumane!
A very powerful piece, JJ. “Who levies pain The while feigns blind ..” chilling.
Your brand of constructive comment, gives the poem the added impetus that focus on the gravity of indifference to human plight. I am very touched, and thank you for your interest. JJ
