Autumn Leaves

– on a shivery eve –

As autumn leaves,
Shadows fall
On a shivery eve,
While mind recalls
Obscuring shades,
I’m made to feel
While vista fades,
A summer’s peal
Nature betrays,
Once sun filled days…
Thus autumn leaves
My soul behind,
A summer hostage
Of plead declined
To keep alive
Fair weather skies,
And butterflies …
Soon winter’s blast
Will cast a haze,
To chase the last
Of autumn days,
And scattered leaves
When Frost said Jack,
Will come awake
In a world near grey,
To soon blustery wakes…
Tho I’d turn back
Fall season’s clock,
Nature chose cold
As its mortal mock,
To oblige Thanatos
Who will now wrest,
Fall season’s soul
As autumn leaves,
To soon make way
For a winter’s hold!
