“ Life ” ~ be but a minute ~

As journey’s impart

Finds  compose,

A life held chart

Of  fading echoes,

Images seek focus

On a wistful past,

As recall delves

In dormant baggage,

Where marks a start

Of minute’s living,

Which is to be our life…

As life be but a minute

I’ve no time left to waste,

So overlook my rancour

If you crowd my space,

Or find ye be  anchor

In my short-lived race,

Tho I sound rather terse

I’m not without candour,

So empathize my strife

For with so little time,

I’ve reason to make haste…

I might have shown fear

Or shed a meagre tear,

To decelerate the process

That fixed  fall’s arrival,

In the wake of all that dies

As will a prized September,

Thus with all it finds allied

Seek peace with December,

For soon you’re gone to rest

To lie neath earthen blanket,

Should minute’s life end next!

“ Finding One’s Legs ” ~ for walking you have left ~

You’d expect legs,

Knowing they be

More than we see

Do what one begs,

From beyond when

You knew not then,

Legs meant to carry

Shortly thereafter

We had been born,

Till body falters

Without we’d known

Legs made of bone,

Rust in wearing flesh

Yet hold their own,

Destined to walk

Or stand alone,

In just such stead,

Save loosing legs

Least not till we be dead,

Thus find no reason

To lament or beg,

Save fate chose compose

You won’t last the load,

Tho you want them back

Means to find one’s legs,

Be now cane, stick or peg

For the walking you have left!

ode to the pleasures of aging,

                                                                   and the friends who’ve arrived.

“ Sway ” ~ just enough ~

Sway

Just enough

To give hope a ray,

Sway

A bit more

To let me find

The way,

Sway

Then again,

To so compose

You’d have me stay,

Sway

Fate might fix

Life be with love

More than a day,

Sway

To find share

Destined replete

Be criteria’s fare,

Sway

Life be free

Of bent aspirants,

And political tyrants,

Sway

Alas man finds

Give life to dreams,

Barring nightmare,

If incubi, succubi be there

For ones held pleasures!

“ Looking ” ~ for serenity ~

Looking

For reasons,

Not to suppose,

That by and by

I’ll not dispose,

For me to abide

As I want compose…

Looking

At thoughts,

That questions

The soul,

Shadowed in doubt

Yet passing for whole,

When worth I gave

May have dried out,

Hence less than brave

I’ve agonized about,

A premature bide

In fates grave reside…

Looking

To find serenity,

That shan’t confine,

To narrowed time!

“ First Love ” ~ that special place ~

Years so many

A sweet memory,

We fondly keep

Of days felt whole,

When youth’s first love

Did magically take hold…

To someone’s heart

We’d found a way,

Yet from the start

For some ‘twas play,

Thus a short stay

Would so compose,

A first love’s fate

Might find to morn,

That special place

Until one looked beyond

Sad and forlorn,

Embraces lost love bound!
