I see people
Who parade,
Watched by they
Whose charade
Fool no other,
Yet they vary
Their façade,
Trying hard
To disregard,
They be barb
For one another…
Might be better
To look deeper
At their proper,
Thus find reason
Be themselves,
Not like others
Who so chose
Masquerade,
Which alas
Will not alter
They’re but clad
Would be people!
Reminds me of an Oscar Wilde quote, “Be yourself, everyone else is taken.”
Really liked this one of yours. 🙂
Nice to read your flattering comment, that suggests my poem brings to mind an Oscar Wilde quote. How very nice, and doubly so that Mr. Wilde ranks highly among my favourites authors and poets. Thank you ever so much. Jean-Jacques Fournier
