“ Mirror, Mirror ” ~ off my walls ~

Mirror, mirror

You’re still here

Tho need be gone,

And off my walls,

As afore long

A wistful state,

Will soon befall

We potentates,

Narcissistic all…

Mirror, mirror

Your reflections

Now but smear,

Thus evermore

As useless gap,

To camouflage

My dwindling sap,

So mirror, mirror

Room or hall,

Quick now damn it

Off my walls!

  1. Mirror off the walls….or as Dorian Gray did say, your face does change in appearance but a hidden portrait is always there….somewhere under a curtain to remind you who you are….

    • Yes Dorian Gray did say, and a good point indeed you make, though there is no denying what mirror flaunts in ones face regardless of who you remember being, curtain and all. Thank you for the way out for all who have come to need it, as well as those who will eventually.

    • Excellent commentaire!

Pewter mirror you suggest… what a great idea! But as I mention in my French reply, to your comment of the same language, I once had such a mirror in my first shaving kit, and for me it worked quite well. Though it’s a good point, the story is not mine, a tough old bird, but that of the mirror who tortures people’s aging sensitivities about the the newly discovered wrinkles etc on what seemed to be ever unblemished body surface. Need I say more?
